Winner in February 2000 of a Grammy Award as Best New Age Album,
CELTIC SOLSTICE is a rich and innovative album born from the creative interplay
of Irish and American musicians in a contemporary celebration of the Summer
Solstice and the longest day of the year, featuring renowned Uilleann piper
Davy Spillane, fiddler Eileen Ivers, vocalist Karan Casey, whistle-player
and flutist Joanie Madden, piper Jerry O'Sullivan, and members of the Paul
Winter Consort Paul Halley and Jamey Haddad, amongst others.
Saxophonist, composer and bandleader, explorer of the world's
musical traditions, and founder of Living Music, Paul Winter has created
an award-winning body of work that transcends categories, Now, for the first
time, the milestones of his musical journey are gathered in one collection.
The double CD set includes six new tracks, and the US version includes a
journey into The World of Living Music, narrated by Paul on CD-ROM.
Lyrical, instrumental interpretations of bossa nova tunes by
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Marino Pinto, Carlos Lyra and other feature "Winter's
liquid soprano sax, Castro-Neves' rich chord voicings, and solid but supple
backing from bassist Nilson Matta and drummer Paulo Braga [...] A long-overdue
collaboration between two gifted and well-traveled musicians" - Billboard

Paul returns to his favorite acoustic space on Earth, the Grand
Canyon, to create his first solo album, a musical adventure recorded in
Surround Sound accompanied by the ambient sounds of Canyon Wren, Raven,
Hummingbird, white-throated Swift, Mourning Dove, Crickets, wind, rain and
thunder.
